I know that this is not exactly a music question but I do alot of myspace networking & it seems to get really bogged down when I use my mac. I have a PC that just zips around myspace & a couple of places MUCH faster than my Mac. I am using Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) & my updater says this is up to date. Would using Firefox get me around the net any faster in some scenarios?

I'm pretty sure Apple is up to 2.x with Safari. I'm using 1.0.3 and it won't even open some pages, including some on the Apple site (go figure.) Of course, I'm having that problem, to some degree, with all the browsers I use since they're all outdated. Unfortunately, I can't update them until I upgrade the OS, which I can't do until I upgrade from Digi001, which I can't do until I have more cash, which..., oh, well. Anyway, I'd try the newer version of Safari, if you can. Another thing to note is Camino, which is supposed to be Firefox written for the Mac. I think you can download it for free from the Firefox website. I haven't tried it yet, since I'm still running OS 10.2 and I can't... oh, well.
Good luck. I know that this is not exactly a music question but I do alot of myspace networking & it seems to get really bogged down when I use my mac. G4 powerbook - 1.5ghz processor, 1.25 gb RAM & yeah, my updater says I'm up to date. I am on OSX 10.3.9 & the move to 10.4 sounds like a pain as far as moving all of my apps off my HD & moving them back on. Maybe it isn't so bad. I've just had some screwy (PC) experiences when wiping a hard drive to install a new OS.

As myspace is probably the biggest bunch of crappy code out there, yes, firefox should do better
Myself I use Safari (latest, always, that is 2.something) and a G5 optimized version of Firefox for some websites. I think Safari IS cooler (for me), but FF is faster, as more options and handles some site correctly. Safari has still some quirks at dealing some sites requirements (and it's not a code based problem, but the way safari and the site talk to each other) In case, Camino and Opera are great too AFAIK (moved the thread to the proper sub forum, have a look at all the 440forums, it's huge now -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

I love Firefox. It rocks in my book. I rarely use Safari any more.
