NOTE - Please, pardon my flawed grammar...

Lovely;

Now, that was creatively very amazing, but when did all deliberate efforts to present one's self as "evil cool" become preferred over the courage to not create content intended to generate shock and awe?

I don't intend to come across like some square specific kill cool joy, but anyone can steal glory by fronting content of deliberate "badness (negativity)," and I am just not impressed by people who market themselves in this fashion.

If you have talent, you do not need to go that route. But people argue that such "statements of shock and awe" are "genius" cause the artist is simply "working the game," but how much talent does it take to light a larger pile of dog crap that the last "genius" who lit a large pile of dog crap?

In my peculiar pea brain, "evil genius" an oxymoron, because "evil" is essentially about selfishness, and selfishness is easy compared to what selfishness is not, collectively unifying and peace generating.

You want to prove to me you are a genius, do something amazing that will not inspire kids to contemplate self destruction.

"Evil" ain't "strong," evil is weak and cowardly and ignorant, as "good" requires great discipline and perseverance. And this may be a philosophical notion, but it adds up logically and with sound reason.

Are you an artist, or a sell out simply seeking to titillate the emotionally immature and thoughtless in order to sell your "product?"

Blessings,
Professor Obvious

brilliant!.. minimal equipment..true talent... I want more from Mr. T.. regarding language.. art is an open book and freedom of speech belongs to all of us, not just what one group can dictate.. of course.. hate speech is the line crossed. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate.

Tunepoet, I think you're completely missing something there.

What is so shoking about it?... The title?!...
These words (including the "F" word as you, prude people, hypocritically name it) are being used everyday by all kinds of different people. You've never said it?...
Good for you (you should try some day though... just for the thrill of it...).
Pretending that nobody should use it publicly in order to protect kids is so utopian and naive...
So what?... I should have replaced those words with a beep, as they do on MTV?... I've always found this kind of censure to be very hypocritical.
We don't do that in Europe. Are our kids more impolite because of this? I don't think so my dear. It's just a question of education and how the parents handle their kids.
I've grown up knowing all the curse-words you can think of (I know, what a f*cked up kid!). Am I cursing all day long?... No, because I 've been teached how to behave, thanks to my parents.

And, for your information, you probably haven't the slightest clue of what the "subject" of this song is about. I can't blame you, most people don't.
You think it's evil? You think it's about being a "bad guy"??...
Well, not in the sense you're thinking of I guess.
I wrote this song after breaking up with my last girlfriend. She was involved in a long term relationship when we met. She left the guy for me. It lasted less than a year and eventhough I broke up with her in a "decent way" (= I didn't just runaway as a coward), I really felt as a M*therF*cker (see, I'm censuring myself) because she had left a solid relationship for something that didn't last more than a year.
I felt even worse considering it wasn't the first I was in this "situation".

I shouldn't have to explain (or justify for) a song if you want my opinion, but in this case... here you go.
Listen to the lyrics before judging the title.
"You wanna do me good/ And I know you could/ You want me to be yours/ 'Won't last more than 24 hours/ etc etc..".

So, sorry if this sounded shoking to you but when you say "You want to prove to me you are a genius", you're really being stupid.
I don't want (or have) to prove anything, specially to you! I know I'm not a genious, just a guys writing silly song on his own. I don't even pretend to be an artist!
This song was just a joke. The videoclip was just a joke.
It's not even the kind of songs that I usually write...

But ask yourself this question: why are so many people enjoying this stuff (I've received hundreds of friendly emails)?
Maybe because they understood the humour behind it.
So sad you didn't...

Oh yeah... Forgot this one...
I guess this one is for me too (I thought it was responding to the previous post).

Dear Vincent, I've been on this board wayyyy before you, I've even been part of the team some years ago, I think I've helped (or at least tried to help) more people than you'll ever do (especially on the french side of the website) and, whether you like it or not, I'm a decent professionnal (whatever that means).

And for your information, I didn't ask for this News. The team seemed to think that the clip was good enough to deserve a News...
That's pretty much it.

If you don't like it, tell it to the Team since:
1/I personnaly don't care about those kind of agressive comments.
2/There's nothing I can do about that News being on the board...

Thank you my dear.

--------

I guess you have presumed or presupposed that one cannot be offended by hostile language, and be concerned about those in New Orleans at the same time.

I am not "Americans" and not every American thinks the very same thoughts or embraces the same attitudes. Reality is not so black and white, and applying the devastation in New Orleans as an excuse to criticize an American who does not appreciate destructive language is profoundly inconsistent as well non sequiturial.

Just because someone disagrees with Americans having a legal right to purchase semi automatic weapons in your typical gun store, does not mean said person is deliberately and consciously ignoring poverty and famine in Africa.

One does not necessarily reflect on or exist relative to the other.

Blessings,
Professor Give Me A Break blink.gif

Ps.
Pretty amazing that a simple comment about content that can be destructive to children, has escalated into a political debate? What kind of confusion is that?

If you think the Corvette is a very cool car, does qualify as a logical platform for delving into US politics? If you see someone buy "American Cheese" at your local grocery store, is that some sort of political statement?

Man, what elementary school did you gents fail out of?

thanks again, and screw the language issues, art is art, professional? uh yeah... go home to your Clear Channel Safe home, or check out what some professianal artists have done, see Joel Peter Witkin, Jeff Koons, Man Ray, Mapplethorpe, John Duncan... endless.. maybe by professional you meant American Pop?

Anyway, as another pointed out this is very inspiring, I really gotta get back into video...been years. Your fancy effects were great, seemed raw and filmlike, never felt like fancy digital effects, the technique never got in the way of the message, yet still interesting enough to watch many times.. Excellent work, thanks for sharing.

You win!
You are right!
------

I did not realize that everyone was doing it!
If everyone is mugging old ladies, that makes it alright
--------

All destructive content is justified if in the context of a joke!
Why was that Jewish person offended by my Holocaust joke?
-------

If a million people love it, that means there cannot be anything wrong with it!
Heroine should be legal cause lots of people love it!
-------
If you have ever cursed once in your life, that means you are never in a position to argue that it could be offensive!
Once you have quit smoking, you are never entitled to argue that smoking is dangerous!

-------
The freedom to do anything proves that anything a person is free to do, must be alright!
Lets start up a web page for little kids and teach them all the cool ways to say "f yourself" cause they are gonna hear it anyway!

--------
I give up!
I had no right to share my opinion!
And aI should have consulted the the censorship committee before I said something you think should have been censored....

See the double standard?

I'm leaving this thread, too much confusion to sort through...

Hows about you did something you wanted to do, I shared my opinion, you are free to disagree with it, and you don't have to change my mind if you still want to entertain your point of view.

No moral point of view goes unpunished...

I would like to formally apologize for having an opinion.

I would like to formally apologize for censoring your work, and preventing it from being posted in a public forum available to everyone.

I would like to formally apologize for being an American, for all Americans are guilty of the same thoughts, and should be mentally blanked out in an Orwellian Fashion.

I would like to formally apologize for not caring about people in New Orleans.

I would like to formally apologize for exorcising my right to free speech, which should have been censored before I was guilty of expressing it.

I would like to formally apologize for expressing my right of free speech, in response to others who have expressed their right of free speech.

I would like to formally apologize for rebelling against the most popular opinions held by people who feel that only some forms of free speech should be free, and all other expressions of free speech should be snuffed out.

I would like to apologize for, um, not formally apologizing before I mindlessly droned out something that I have to formally apologize for.

Next time I will take a vote, and will be sure to agree with the most popular opinion, so I will not be guilty of forming my own.

Sorry,

all of this discourse is healthy... see how many posts? In a free society everyone should exercise free speech no matter how popular or unpopular the sentiment. Tunepoet, I respect your opinion and appreciate the people who have died to preserve it through the centuries.
Everyone can argue art endlessly, the more passionate it becomes however, the more we are brought to the surface of our complacent, everyday life. Controversy should always exist as part of art's dialog.
Everyone should just chill and move on... good art waits for better to be created... etc.. etc.
cheers,
Mak

Get a life dear...
Three (looooong) posts to "express" your opinion!...
And the quotes... Learn to use the quotes, that will help at least trying to understand what you're saying...
Well, in fact, no, don't even bother doing that, the first lines said it all, I don't really need to read the rest (I did in fact... silly me... waht a waste of time...).
You definitely should be elected President!
Don't "apologize for having an opinion", keep on being proud to make judgements!
And have a good life.

PS: and thanks again to the others who simply appreciated that evil creation. Sorry guys but it seems you'll burn in hell just like me... (-;
At least we'll keep warm.
