I have been using TOAST for all my cd burning on my 733 G4, running this under 9.2 However for some strange reason it does not want to work when I choose 0 secs on a RW.
I am sure it did.
I have dumped prefs.
I went to the ROXIO web site and see that they offer an upgrade to make it work on using Buffer Underrun on CD RW's. So I tried again NOT selecting the use of BU - no difference.
All I get is that message which says the connection is unstable, which is shorthand for IT CANNT BURN.
Incidently, when I leave all the secs at 2 it works fine. Only I need that 0 as I have two tracks which run into each other. Aside from cheating and sticking those two tracks into one, I wondered if ANYONE in the Whole Wide World had a similar experience which they managed to fix blink.gif

I think that in toast it doesn't allow you to set the first song to 0 and that has to have a 2 sec space but all the other songs you can set at 0.

The time indicated is a time before the track wink.gif so a continuous audio CD will have the 2 seconds on the first track and 0 sec afterwards. I don't know if it's a Toast thing or else.

Syne wave, have you asked for all tracks at 0 sec or does it really refuse with first at 2 others at 0? It's confusing.

Have you selected the disk at once option too?

It's OK. I know about not setting the first track as the specified seconds relate to BEFORE the track. I admit it took a while until I finally realised that one. But what I have set is track 2 and track 8 of a 9 track album.
I usually set it to DISK AT ONCE.
BTW: I got so fed up with this not working on my RW that I put in a CDR and it burned with no problems. So I am assuming it has something magical to do with RW's. (Spooky)
That stupid message I got is what usually happens when the burn speed is not correct. But in this instance I am only offered 2 or 4 speed from the RW disc info. And it will burn fine - but without a 0 secs between tracks.
I had a really silly thought today - to ask them at ROXIO. But then decided to get a cup of coffee instead.

blink.gif I have to admit - I went to the ROXIO site and went round their 'on line help' a couple of times.
Guess what: I couldn't find my problem.
AND no easy option for contacting them.
Does anyone know of a really good bit of software I can download?

What brand/type of RW is it? It may be a "bad" support and so Toast gets temperamental… blink.gif (it happens)

My CD Burner is a TDK Cyclone. Chosen as something which can burn slower - for better masters. All other aspects work FINE. Just this strange effect on RW discs. unsure.gif

A long time ago I phone TDK in Germany and their chap was at a complete loss for any MAC support. But as I said, for the most part it works fine.

Mhmmm TDK Cyclone… check the firmware (seems to be upgradable only from a windows PC) that's the page I've stumbled upon in google by searching "TDK Cyclone". wink.gif (uh oh)

And which brand/type of CDs do you use???

Support quality is much more important first hand than burning speed. And bad support can tell to the burner "bit it, I'm bad to the core".
