There seem to be some issues on DP but it's not clear (fader performances on G3-G4)
Don't use Norton 8 (update needed)

Don't let firewire drives plugged while installing, as they seem to "disappear" after that.
The thread on it at Apple's

A list of what work on his system (ibook 800) from our teamer clouvel:

My MIDISport 2x2 doesn't seem to work consistently. It actually appeared to work properly once but I haven't been able to repeat that scenario. MIDI on my MOTU 828mkII works fine, so that's what I'm using until M-Audio updates the driver for the MIDISport...

M-AUDIO Ozone keyboard driver downloaded and freshly installed is super buggy in Panther... but it was also buggy before I installed panther. I think it started bugging out with the 10.2.8 upgrade.

Hey dudes heres a reply from M Audio re:
Audiophile 2496
& also re: the G5 upgrade program.

Hello Trevor,

The drivers should be ready very shortly. I of course have no definitive date as the developers can change the specs or come across problems. As for the upgrade program, not completely sure how long this will last, it depends on the nature of the market and industry, but probably about 6 months or so. Beyond that I would just keep checking our site for updates regarding this.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

I don't find a driver update for midisport 2x2 for Panther -- I assume I just have to wait, unless someone knows more than me. Does anyone have a preferred midi interface to the 2x2 for simple synth OS updates and patch dumps?

Thanks,
Daniel

Those bozos don't have up any drivers (or any beta drivers) for Oxygen 8! WTF???? That is probably one of their biggest selling midi controllers.

I called support today and they basically said "Sorry. No timetable. We have alot of products." Those saucy tarts deserve to eat their MIDI.

Answer "you should have _enough_ developpers then"

Note that it may be one of the concequences to buy entry level products, I'm not saying their product are bad but you can't expect an exceptional level of support.

I'm sure they sell more for PCs abyway sad.gif so it's not a priority for them.

I'm not! laugh.gif

But it can be arranged easily wink.gif

Now, it's great these products are here, but they HAVE some traps, drivers and support are some of those.

And here whitout decent drivers from M-audio… nothing will do…

M-Audio consistently talk a good product, but promptly fail to get the damn things to work properly in real life. I fear their reputation may be in terminal freefall. I was in a music shop yesterday looking at Midi interfaces and the looks on the faces of the staff when M-Audio's name came up told quite a story.

Yup. I'm running Panther 10.3.1 - tried to install the latest drivers for my Audiophile 2496 - it downloaded fine - but wouldn't install. However, (I can't believe I'm going to say this) I don't seem to be having any problems anyway with my card - it works fine for me.

Yup,

I also use the the Midisport 2 x 2 and that works fine under Panther - so, you may ask - why don't you use the Midi on the Delta Audiophile 2496? and you'd be right - um.. it's a long story involving a late night and a tired brain and too long without sleep and I didn't have a button pressed when it should've been pressed and... sigh... anyway, it all works and M-audio is fine by me.

Thanks

Midisport 2*2 doesn't work under Panther.
The Panther driver that can be found at m-audio website is the old 3.1 version of the driver, and doesn't work better...
m-audo support told me to remove old driver installation, to repair disk permissions and the re-install the driver: doesn't work better, and the Audio and Midi Setup crash each time I run it.
It's been more than 1 month since Panther has been released, and it seems M-Audio is unable to update their driver.
Maybe they could phone to Edirol, fro example, to know learn how to make one ;-)

very bad experience with transit under panther.

there is a reason their reputation is falling. their drivers are unreliable and highly incompatible.

absolutely refuse to provide any documentation nor do they accept returns.

if you value the stability of your computer, stay clear. stay well clear.

don't touch their stuff unless you can have two weeks or a month to test and return when you find your computer crashing or that it is impossible to run half of your programs with their device attached.

be cautious. very cautious.

they are unbelievably unrepentant about their bad drivers.

Hey... Maybe not all the drivers are running ok... but with my FW410 I had just 1 "little" problem but it had been sorted out since the release of the driver 1,2 .... and never had crashes, no problems with firewire... just great sound quality, portability, stable, easy to use, and a great price first of everithing!. I'm running panther 10.3.3 on a powerbook G4... And it works great with every single program... from Live, reason, etc... to Tassman, Cubase, and any player... even in rewire mode... just great...
So be shure that everithing is ok with your computer... update your drivers... and then.... well, good luck

M-Audio is the last I would buy for my Mac.
I allready had in erlier times the Biport Midi Interface: The Drivers where a mess.
I allready had the TRANSIT Audio USB interface: The Driver didn´t supported various Systems of OS X really well. I had everytime problems of no sound output...restsrting the machine was the solution angry.gif
However ... beware me of M-AUDIO wink.gif angry.gif angry.gif angry.gif

I sold the stuff... biggrin.gif

my experience...

my opinion:

M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks M-AUDIO sucks angry.gif
