You might want to take a look at a MacIntel, they have enough power so that you don't need a Logic node. The issue is 3rd party plugs that are Intel compatible. The Logic node will only work with the integrated logic instruments, and effects. currently I'm using a 1GHz powermac as my main machine, no problems with sessions of 32-48 tracks using virtual instruments exclusively using Logic and DP. Both apps have a freeze feature that allows you to free up CPU for more effects and instruments. Recently picked a Core Duo mini for evaluation/ transition machine. So far I haven't needed to freeze tracks on that machine, or even come close to needing a Logic node. the mini is basically a repackaged Macbook.
