Bought firewire 410 a month ago ...September 2003, ...and it has stopped working already.....using windows xp home...and the device just cannot start....on my desk top,,,,tried it on my laptop also and it still cannot start, the very bright blue light just blinks continually, no matter how often it is reset.......it only worked well for a few weeks just after it was bought.

I'm interested in buying 410 too,so are you sure that you did everything rirght?
Do you still have the same opinion about it?

A know a guy who's had one for a while now, and uses it with G5 & Logic. He's had loads of problems with it, though i think that might have somthing to do with Panther. He's been in contact with M-Audio quite a bit, but i think his problems are over now.
I'm gonna get one i think, for use with my Powerbook, unless MOTU decide to release a smaller, more portable version of their 828 very quickly (its not gonna happen, is it?)

I read somewhere that MIDI doesn't work with Mac OSX Jaguar. Anyone using this on a Mac with Jaguar have any MIDI problems?

I have had my Firewire 410 for almost 7 months and have had no problems at all with it - was very easy to setup and works well. I am on XP running cubase SX.

i have a power mac g4 with a m-aidio firewire 410...and actually it's great...belive me!

Are You using it with X or 9.2.2? I can't use MIDI with 9.2.2 and now the whole unit even crashes logic while starting...Please help me...

I am thinking of getting a 410 as well, but someone has just put a spanner in the works by saying something about oversampling, so I went to M-Audio's web site and their Flying cow (sic) has 128x oversampling - but they don't say what the oversampling is on the 410 - anyone shed any light on this ??

is it true that you can't use all four ins on the 410 at once? (i mean the two xlr ins and the stereo spdif).

that's a factor for me because i have a pod type thing i want to use with the spdif, but i'd still like all four ins at once.

wolfie -- the Flying Cow is a D/A and A/D convertor, not a computer audio interface. if you bought a flying cow you would still need an interface of some kind to get the audio to/from your computer. the 410 doesn't have input oversampling because it's not necessary. you can record directly into the computer at whatever sampling rate you want and then downsample later. the only reason to use a flying cow is if you were going from a high-quality mic pre or something like that directly into a DAT or some other digital machine whose A/D convertors aren't very good.

Have just ordered one from a fellow selling on eBay in the States. Offers FREE international shipping and although the enclosed power supply is fitted for United States, I intend to power it from (6 pin) Firewire anyway.
