Full Version: Distortion When Recording: Why?

I am using Deck 3.5. I start a new audio session, and the first 2 or 3 tracks (about 2 mins. each) record without problem. But then, for no apparent reason, when I record the 3rd track, it is all distorted. Nothing is changed between the 2nd and 3rd track. If I open up a new session and record in that, the 1st and 2nd tracks are, again, fine, but then the 3rd (or anything after 3rd) is bad.

What could be causing this? Is it a memory issue? But I have plenty of RAM (over 600MB) and Deck is the only program open. I am only recording an acoustic-electric guitar, using an Edirol UA-3D input. Also, I have a partitioned HD and am recording to a separate partition.

(I have a TiBook 400, running 10.2.3)

thanks for any help!

maybe try giving Deck more memory in the "get info" window... check the memory control panel and see what your ram cache is set at... some apps work better with a low ram cache setting such as 256k and some apps recommend higher settings (experiment with this)... check to see if Deck preferences has an audio buffer setting.... if so then experiment with raising the buffer amount... and lastly, make sure you don't have virtual memory turned on in memory control panel... hope this helps biggrin.gif

duh... ok forget half of that info... i just seen you are using OSX.... so the only advice I gave that may work is the audio buffer setting in Deck rolleyes.gif
