I have a m-audio fw 410 connected to my monitors. Now my question is, is it possible to have this soundcard only assigned to Logic and not my whole system? Basically I want to monitor mixes in itunes through a separate set of speakers without having to go into the OSX audio/midi setup and switch the settings everytime.

Is this possible? Or will I have to continue with the switch a roo?

Thanks as always.

redstrype,

You should be able to control how your sound is routed in the System Preferences -> Sound Pref pane.

The output selected there is for all of your system sounds (Finder, iTunes, etc.). If you leave this set to "Built In" and set your FW-410 as your audio output ONLY in your Logic/Logic Express preferences, you would be able to monitor your different audio sources without having to open Audio/MIDI setup and swap between the two.

Or, at least this is how my MOTU 828 is set up and I still get iTunes playback via my stereo while my Logic/Logic Express is routed to the 828.

Hope that helps.

peace.

Hi Redstrype,

The interface setting in Logic is can be setup independent off the audio/midi setup. Just set the systemoutput and standardoutput tin the audio/midi setup o you're internal or an alternative interface en keep Logic on the fw410.
