smile.gif Hi all smile.gif

I'm going to buy a 01v96 v2 shortly and I have a G5 already. I really like protools but I'm going to make way much more midi, use Reason in rewire or other virtual instruments.

Is the 01v96 really compatible as a control surface or MIDI/audio i/o with protools (if I sue my My16mLan)

Is there a better option????

Thanks a lot in advance folks smile.gif

Hi there!

I use a 10v96 V2 together with my mix plus system: As a control surface its possible to control many functions in protools, but I use only the faders ( since they are not touch sensitive you have to fight them in touch write mode), solo and mute buttons. For other functions I use the computer keyboard and the mouse: it's faster for me.

I use 10v96 V2' s Line inputs and converters: they sound much better than the ones in my digi box and go into Protools via spdif. I did Surround mixes where I used 01v96 FX with Protools via ADAT Interface.

I use the monitor and headphone section of the 01v96 even if there is no mono and dim switch.

Unfortunatly 01v96 does not fully emulate a mackie control, therefore you cannot use it to mackie control ableton Live 5 for instance (major drawback!).

All in all you get a lot of functions that take up very little space, and that are all in a decent quality.
01v96 V2 is very reliable on tour ( I used it outdoor to do 60 shows last summer, never had a problem), and you can really set it up to fit your personal needs (a great feature is the custom layer, where you can put any faders like channels, groups, sends, DAW faders etc in any order as you need them to control your setup).

OKOK! One day I' m gonna buy all that nice and expensive outboard gear and get me an Icon. But until then...........http://www.macmusic.org/agora/forums/style_images/11/icon7.gif
