I am trying to install OMS to run the Roland PMAConvertTool on my iMac running X.3. I have installed OMS in Classic environment but everytime I try to run the setup it just quits. No error message. nothing. angry.gif

What do I do to make this $#%^#$% thing work?

You can not install OMS in X because it already has a midi program in it. It is located in aplications > utilities > audio MIDI setup.

Uh, yes kaboom, but you can use OMS in Classic. the thing is to be able to install it. I've seen that somewhere… got to find it again…
You can install OMS and sometimes get it to work since 10.2x… Now it's a rather tedious affair. I can't find the how to right now. One thing I remember is that the MIDI interface is very important and only a few are known to work (and it's not definitive)

there's the midisport 2X2, Edirol-UM-1…

Also maybe a solution in beta, check this

But you're right it's $*%£@&#

Ask the Finale users, until shortly they were in HELL.

this is why I will not be upgrading to OSX.3 anytime soon... you cannot boot to OS9 from it and I have too many music apps that run in OS9 to omit it and i have found classic mode to be pretty much useless. rolleyes.gif

sorry I couldn't help more but I can only suggest you look for an OSX alternative cool.gif

Well… you depend on Roland will on pushing the soft to OSX…

Follow both tracks: the OMS emulator and the use of a different MIDI interface… until an update it's the only solution beside some old mac around just for this software… sad.gif

Actually, Roland has already discontinued both the hardware and software a few years ago. I'm using an old Mac at work to run it on but I don't really have the desk space at home for 2 computers. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to upgrade everything else up to my iMac.

Thanks all,
BC
