Help!
My sexy new plug-in is stuck in the default preset bank! Having followed GMedia's installation procedure carefully, I can't open the other preset banks when I open the plug-in in Logic. I've put them in \applications\Logic\Plug-In Settings\ as instructed. I noticed that Emagic's own plug-ins use a .pst extension for their presets, while ImpOSCar's have a .aupreset extension. I tried changing their extensions and they did appear in the drop down menu, but selecting them made no difference to the patches available within the ImpOSCar - it just put the bank's name into the title bar. Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone found a way to fix it? My French isn't too hot, but I think these guys are having the same problem: http://www.macmusic.org/agora/forums/?s=&l...652&hl=imposcar I WANT THOSE FAT SOUNDS!!! Will Harrison |

Just had a look on the FR thread, and yes they have the same problem.
No solution at the moment there… As everyone seem to struggle with this… maybe a word at gMedia (support section) could push things -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

Right, GMedia tell me that this is a common problem with Logic 5.5 in OS X and that it is not an issue with Logic 6.
They gave me a workaround which works as follows: 1. Open a finder window containing all the fxb files that come on the CD. 2. Drag each one (one-by-one) onto the ImpOSCar's GUI which you've opened in Logic. 3. Each time save the bank with SAVE SETTING AS from Logic's drop-down menu and Logic will save the bank as a file that it can recognise - version 5 won't recognise the .aupreset files that come on the CD. 4. Those banks will now be loadable directly from the drop-down menu. If you haven't checked out this soft synth, go to GMedia's website NOW and download the demo. I've no idea how it works (I'm just a newbie really), but it makes some seriously fat sounds, which (in the UK at least, thanks to the resurgence of the 80s) are very now. There are banks programmed by various stars of the eighties and nineties, including Ultravox, Mark Moore of S-Express and Rick Smith from Underworld. Ever wondered how Underworld made that mad shifting pattern on Rez/Cowgirl? It may not mean alot to some, but if you do remember then you're probably going to love this synth. There's loads of stuff on the GMedia website about the user-definable waveforms, unusual LFOs and extra flexible keyboard-tracking, but all I know is it quickly makes the sounds I want and, when I'm playing it live or recording some noodles, it feels extra responsive and expressive - and I use a tiny microKORG keyboard as my controller! And it's dead easy-going on your CPU too. Happy noodling. PS You'll just have to pretend I've put a link to GMedia's website here, OK? |
