Hey,

My very first post to this forum. Hope someone can help.

Dual 1GHz / 1.5 G Ram / Glyph 40 G FW / Moto 828 / Studio 4
OS 9.2.2 (Classic) Logic 4.8.1 / All the latest drivers for everything else

I am able to record 8 tracks at a time (direct from my old Fostex A8LR), I can hear each sample by themselves, but NOTHING comes out when playing all 8 tracks in the arrange window.

I have the latest ASIO driver in Logic's driver folder, and the Moto FW control panel says everything is OK.

Any ideas? I am pretty sure that it is something reeeeeaaaallly stupid, but I can't figure out what it is!

I have been a Logic user since v2.02. I just updated from a 8100 (with a G3 233 add-on), Session 8 w/822 IO. I am new to FW and USB, but I think I have a handle on it.

Any rebuttle is appreciated. I will be happy to add additional data to this thread as needed.

Norman

Just a short followup.

I was able to [once again] record 8 tracks (I also did 16). This time I noticed that if I didn't save the song, I was able to hear ALL of the recorded tracks. But once I saved the song and closed it, then re-opened it, NOTHING.

I leave off the option to automatically create an overview after recording, so when I open up a song, Logic will automatically create an overview for each audio track. This might be the problem.

Is it possible that the overview process is changing something to NOT allow Logic to play the tracks?

P.S. I have a feeling that I am going to be the only one replying to my own questions! . . . . . well I hope I figure out my own problem soon!

when youreopen the saved song, are the audio files displayed in the audio window?
Do you hear them when clicking it?

Thanks for the reply,

The song seems to open up just fine. If overviews were not created previous to re-opening the song, than Logic creates them. As noted in my last post, I usually do not allow Logic to automatically create overviews after recording. Since I usually do not keep 90% of the material I record (just a bad trait of a perfectionist), it is useless to what for Logic to create an overview for an audio object that I am going to trash anyway.

I am able to hear audio both in the Sample Editor window and from the Audio window. From the Sample Editor I can change the channel in which the audio file will be auditioned (located directly above the tool pallette and below the audition icon shaped like a speaker). When I change the channel here, all of the attributes that were assigned to that channel in the mixing environment window (i.e. EQ, Effects, and Processors) can be heard and are applied to the sound.

I am able to hear ALL 16 tracks emediatly after recording, but if I save the song file and then simply relaunch that same song, I am then unable to hear any of the tracks.

Any ideas?
Thanks

Hey,

I thought I answered this before when I stated 'I am able to hear audio both in the Sample Editor window and from the Audio window.'

I wouldn't be able to hear (or select) a sample if I can't see it to choose it!

So, yes I can visually see the samples EVERYWHERE in Logic. I can only hear them within the Sample Edit, and Audio window. BTW, everything works just fine on my G3 Powerbook, including songs directly copied from the 'troubled' machine.

I am leaning toward the notion that the problem lays within the 9.2.2 classic mode, and not Logic. Have you heard of any issues in this area? I am also using 9.2.2 on my Powerbook, and [as I said], everything works just fine on that.

Thanks again for any reply!
