Hi,
I thought the MBox would provide me with very good preamps (Focusrite) but actually I had to push the gain button almost to the max (as always with integrated preamps!) to get an acceptable sound level from my SM57. Contrary to what Digidesign claim, I don't think that 600 Euros is an affordalbe price....couldn't they put 2 more inputs then? And most of all, I realised that the MBox was not compatible with My iMac G3... java script:emoticon('') John |

What do you mean by affordable. A VERY good pre-amp like MANLEY costs 2500Euro. Rosetta Stereo Converter is 2000E. So in any case you are not going to
get a fantastic sound out of pre-amps on a 600 euro card... -------------------- When you understand disorder, out of that understanding comes order-JK.

Fair enough. I had the same issue, but then I tried a condenser mic instead of a dynamic mic and the difference was incredible! Sounds really great!
I got an inexpensive Samson for about $75US. With the condenser mic., Sansamp guitar box, Doggiebox drum software I feel like I'm set. Give a condenser mic. a shot before you give up on the Mbox. Good luck. Patrick Powerbook Ti 667/512RAM OSX, PT 6.0 -------------------- Patrick
