Help For My G4 Titanium-, advise on audio/midi interface plz |

i am just starting on my g4 laptop with jaguar. i have been working with cubase on g4 tower, but with this new laptop, i am not very sure what midi or audio interface to get! i am trying to used cubase sx as main software... can anyone give me some advise? i am not looking into anything too expensive. just moderate price~ (some people said about edirol? i am not too familiar, ua20 or ua5?)

USB or FireWire interface? How many tracks do you want to record or send out to an external mixer simultaneously? USB is fine for 2-track stereo. Not too expensive, either, and it leaves your FireWire port for an external HD.
Edirol UA-5 is good, UA-700 more useful (IMHO) but more expensive. Tascam controllers are quite popular (US-428 or 224) and M-Audio do a wide range of interfaces, although people seem to have a fair amount of problems with M-Audio drivers (noticed here and in other forums). SX is a good program - I'm surprised more people don't use it. I like it a lot - despite the bugs! |
