Hi all, I just bought a Mac Book Pro 1.83GHz and 1.5Gb Ram.
I'm totally new to Mac. would appreciate if anyone could show me what should I do to set up the Mac OS for audio ? (e.g. turning off useless process maybe?) My main use is for live performance. Thanks!! |

this article has some really good info. it's mostly written for Jaguar and Panther (OS X) but most of it still pertains to optimizing Tiger.

And there's threads beaten like dead horses around too
digest: - create and use a second admin account and install/work from it - Add RAM (max if you can, 1GB is the minimum) - use external disk for audio (better in FW, but USB 2.0 is ok…) - avoid third party prefpanels - disable dashboard - don't rush to update the system, stay on a tried and true OS X version you have no problems with (it'll be your audio apps/plug-ins that will have problems, not the rest usually), wait for compatibility reports. - Once everything is up and running fine, make a back up clone, so you can install back fast. I'm sure we can find one or two more things -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home
