i recently bought an 828 from eBay, without a manual or any software. i downloaded the drivers for it from the motu website, but i do not know how to set it up with the sequencing software i am using (logic 4) nor indeed make my computer (indigo ibook) and the 828 talk to each other beyond recognising each other in the control panel. what is the audiodesk software like? what does the manual say?
any help would be much appreciated! |

Hi Zarathustra,
I don't own an 828, I do own Logic. You will need to place the ASIO driver in the folder "ASIO Drivers" in the Logic folder. When you then start up Logic open "Audio Hardware and Drivers" choose ASIO and select the MOTU driver. Click "Try Relaunch" or restart logic. It should now work! Audiodesk is a scaled down version of performer; just audio no MIDI. I would just use Logic if I were you unless you want to use MAS plug-ins. Matt P.S. if you want to make changes in the MOTU control Panel, e.g. buffer size, while Logic is running I think you will need to disable the audio driver in Logic and then relauch driver after changes. (MOTU 828 owners correct me if I am wrong). |

i use logic 4 & 5 AND an 828(where's my prize?), to use the 828 with asio you'll probably have to download the asio driver from steinberg's site.
you can use it with the macav though, go to control panels-sound. go to output and you should see the 828 as an option, select it. if it dosen't appear, go to the motu control panel and check the little box that says "enable soundmanager", then go back to the sound control panel. i hope this helps, if not let me know... -------------------- one for all and all for one...

Yeah Running the audio would be throught the 828 Control Panel, I use a 2408, different driver samething. I here you can select which of the i/o will do what track, Etc. In Logic go to Audio Hareware and select the 828 ASIO driver. As far as audio desk goes, its a nice program for being free with you hardware, but you have Logic and logic may be more difficalt to understand, its far more powerful and includes MIDI Sequencing. I have to say though, if you not attached to Logic, download the demo project of DP from The MOTU Site
