I've been using Audacity with a direct hookup from a Behr. mixer to the audio in on my G4 tower. This has been ok since I am mostly making live demos of compositions. I've been asked to contribute to a cd and I need to improve my recording ability. I know Motu gets a lot of praise, but the 828 seems like overkill. Or maybe a good investment, I've been waiting for Apple to drop the other shoe with a FW box. ThankQ

To answer we need an idea of your budget, your I/O needs, and the level of quality you want. Because you can have 2 channels of top notch for the price of 8 to 24 of good quality (speaking pro/semipro).

RME, M…, Metric Halo, Apogee…

I'd rather have a few professional quality i/o than 10 lesser of quality. I'd rather have something that works easily in OSX. I'd probably prefer FW. I have a nice mic already. My midi rig is old, a 10 year old Roland, and right now I'm just connecting it to the mixer with mono1/4 out. Budget? I'd rather spend money on acoustic instruments, but I'll do what it takes.

Thanks for the reply
