I am upgrading my old imac and I wanted to see if anyone could answer a couple questions.
I have been using DP 2.7 and I havent had the luxury of using DP 4 yet.
I wanted to know how much processor power I really need to run Digital Performer 4 with. I want to make sure I can run effects on the audio tracks with out to much slow down.

I was leaning on getting an Emac with a 1.2 ghz processor & 1 Gig of Ram . Should I get something more powerful?

It can do, but more is better (and $$$)

Comfort fro virtual instruments/samplers is higher in ram than that (about 2-2,5 GB) and If DP will run, the ore power you'll have under the hood, the more it'll be seen through the plug-in/VI account.

I'd go more into the desktop G4 direction, espetially the one that can be accelerated, or the DP models.

What's your budget? emacs are ok for office use, but can s…k due to some cache limitations in power hungry apps.

Well upon further review I have about 2000 maximum to spend on a computer (I would like to have a monitor in that price). I really only want to spend 1500-1800 but could go up to 2000 if need be.

Would a g4 Dual 1ghz be viable? Can DP4 make use of the dual processor?

DP4 only runs under OS X. In OS X, multiple processor functions are taken care of at operating system level, not at program level. Unlike Mac OS 9.

Kind regards.

So the answer is yes, Digital Peformer can take advantage of dual G4 and G5 processors : )
