The petition text is the one of the news. It could be longer I know…
The most important is to have signatures. If the thing becomes unmanageable for didick or texts needs to be developed, I'll wake up the webmaster and we'll do something… Maybe I should phone him tomorrow tongue.gif

No need to make a US petiton etc etc, we KNOW Apple is not very far wink.gif Apple will read read anyway what's in the forum (it may have been done already, it's not boasting, but we see wink.gif Alos it's better to be united in this, many petitions won't be as effective as a big one.

I will see with didick over the text. cool.gif

Azusa… you've got a point…

I purchased 17 copies of LP6 in July for my Lab at school. I was JUST about to purchase 4 more to complete the Lab when the next day LP7 came out. I called my rep and asked him to see what he can do to get me a free upgrade. Hey, I'm a New Yorker. can't pull that crap on us! He's checking in out and it looks good but you all will have to remember that my school district is a MAJOR Apple purchaser. They may work it out for us since we spend so much money on their hardware and software.

A mate of mine had his logic 6 arrive a day before logic 7 came out!

Yes i think its stingy that there is no grace period but i think azusa hit the mark.

I've used Apples all my life, and for the last decade. Ever since the iPod, Apple have lost the sparkle of brilliance they once had for me. Yes, they still have a far superior OS and their cases are brilliant, but something has gone wrong recently in the finance department... Some money crazed bastard has smelt opertunity and seized it. It feels like Apple are loosing their sense of independance, and slowly giving way to the corporate cash cow, milking every last penny. It's not like them, but doesn't anyone else notice the Microsoft-esque stance they seem to be taking?

It is the same price as a new purchase.

Digidesign and Ableton both offer upgrade grace periods for recent purchases.

Lovely!

Check the Apple Store for Education online. There is a 6 to 7 express upgrade for $99.00

Everybody is talking about personnal phone calls to apple for purchase younger than 2 months... I did a call at Apple canada, spoke to 7 persons and got that wonderful answer:

We can't do anything.

I'm so pissed off I might buy a PC... Seriously, if someone knows someone I should call, send me an email!

cheers

I bought my upgrade 15 days before. I called apple and the official stance communicated to me is "You should buy the upgrades as soon as they come out"...Earth to Apple...Money doesnt grow on trees..I buy the upgrades as soon as I have the money to do it! Doe the idea of a pro-rata discount even get to the apple table? Within 30 days free..Within 60 days 50%, 60 -90 would be 25% greater than ninety days NOONE expects a discount...you've been using the program too much by then....If I were Motu DP, I would use this as my marketing tool! angry.gif

Right: I'm not trying to defend apple in any way shape or form here, (I am one of the 2nd gen iPod users who didn't get any sort of fireware update even though my iPod was only 1,5 months old when gen 3 came out)...

But I do find it strange that so many people bought Logic 6 at such an unfortunate time...

I mean, price-wise Logic just isn't an option for me, so I never really researched it that much, but even I had heard the rumors about an upcoming upgrade...

If I was considering buying such expensive software, I'd definetly check out upgrade cycles and rumors to judge when to buy.

Esp. when dealing with apple, who are fairly notorious for this sort of thing.

Imagine you had just bought an iMac G4 for 600$ more than the iMac G5 that was released the next day?

All I'm saying is:

In future, Listen to the rumors before buying apple related stuff!

Btw, I signed your petition for you as well! Good Luck!!

Well

I got my upgrade to Pro 7 (I do these things fast just to keep up with the Jones's)

I installed it ...

My VST to AU doesn't work on it (no Autotune)

My Guitar Rig doesn't work on it.

My B4 doesn't work on it.

And it has the look and feel of other apple packages (yeah - it's still Logic - it just looks different).

Sound Quality is good though and the latency speeds are higher now.

Pissed off about missing plugins and instruments - will investigate this further.

Anyone else have this problem?
