Nec Lcd1715 (good On Ibm) Not Working With Mac, CRTs work with MAC but not LCD? Options

Hi,

I have an NEC/Mitsubishi LCD Monitor (model 1715) that isn't working on my Mac. I used to have a 21" CRT but put that on my IBM Compatible. It works fine there. I then took my LCD and moved it to the Mac and nothing. I get a "No Signal" error. The Mac starts and I can hear it spinning but no monitor. So I tried the original monitor and it works. I then tried an older CRT and that works on the Mac. But then the LCD once again does not. If I put the LCD on the IBM it works. I thought maybe the Mac needed time to find it so I started everything and walked away -- still no signal.
The Mac has this video adapter that has four settings on it for various screen resolutions (like 1024x768 and 832x624) and I tried them all.
The manual for the monitor says:

The LCD1515/LCD1715 is a TFT LCD monitor that is intelligent, microprocessor-based and ergonomically designed display, compatible with most analog RGB (Red, Green,Blue) display standards, including PS/V, PS/2, optional for Apple Macintosh Centris, Quadra,and Macintosh II family signals. The LCD monitor is capable of displaying crisp and vibrantcolor graphics with VGA, SVGA, XGA (non-interlaced), SXGA (LCD1715 only) and most Macintosh compatible color video cards.

It also says under its "Commands" section [Bold Mine]:

I am running OS8 and used the computer for Print Design.

I bought the Mac awhile ago and will see later when I get home if I can find what model it is, I think off hand its a Quadra.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? I searched around the net and either my Googling is subpar or nobody had trouble getting this monitor to work on their Macs.

I wonder…

Do they tell somewhere which ones ?

"optional for Apple Macintosh Centris, Quadra,and Macintosh II family signals."

What do they mean by that?

you could try the following

use your old crt-monitor and set the resoluting to e.g. 800x600 or 640x480. the plug your new to your mac. thats just for the resolution - because lcd have no frequencies listed
the other options i think about is that maybe some system-extensions are missing - try to find an update for your system - there should be something within here:

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. What I eneded up doing was calling my local Mac store and they said I needed an Apple brand Mac to VGA adapter.
I went and picked one up for $14. When I got home the LCD was dark for a few moments and then turned on. All is good now.
