mortalengines, thanks...
I do feel somewhat ancient when I say "Never change a working system". If you are starting "New" it is a very exciting time. I promise you I would have ALL the latest and greatest being offered. Like I did five or six years ago when I first built my "Home Studio". It was solid. When I hit the Main Power Switch everything came to life. I did not realize I had become subtly addicted and wanted more software and gear to add to my arsenal and I would surely conquer the world if I only knew what any of this stuff does?! Against my Technicians advice, I added new stuff. I had to call him back and pay him AGAIN to fix my error of "changing/adding" to my Established System. Did I learn? No. It gets worst. Still, new stuff is coming out and I just gotta have it. Expensive Software, but what about my VST? I did not call the "Original" Technician, again, ever, I felt too stupid, so I get a "New" Technician... Changes EVERYTHING AROUND.... ARRGHHH! So, much time and money spent, sleep lost... and I still DON'T use one third of the stuff 'n thangs! Software changes so fast it is crazy, the companies and ad campaigns make you think "This is what I have always wanted/needed" but, expect the domino effect... Sorry, long winded as always, but if your two, three thousand Dollar, Pounds or Euro system is running don't screw it up by adding a hundred fifty dollar, pounds, Euro Software that "Shuts Down Your System"... It AIN'T WORTH IT. "You can't sleep a wink, when your system goes blink, make you turn to drink, don't care what you think, sign this in ink... Never, ever, ever Change a working system, no, no, no, no, noooo.... don't do dat.... Thank you dat wuz brought to you by old dumb ass Mac Daddy... "Going to the States tomorrow... Gonna have fun and shooooop!" Be sharp, don't Bb. This post has been edited by Mac Daddy: Tue 23 Sep 2008, 10:26 |

i've reported you to the forum administrator, you clearly have anger issues. Hi, I just dropped by and have read this thread - jhanna - you appear to have not only a system problem but an attitude problem. I have used this forum many times requesting help / advice and can only praise people that take some time to offer advice. Reading this thread you seem to dismiss or get angry if anyone dares to criticise or offer advice that you don't want to hear. As a musician / producer you should realise that we are all on the same side and be more pleasant to people that take time to address your issues - whether you like the reply or not !! Get angry at governments, bankers or officials not fellow Mac users / artists. I had a couple ideas that may help your situation but will not post them in fear of having my head ripped off by you....... Hope you resolve your computer problem and that you learn to treat people with more respect. Regards P This post has been edited by PAUL R: Tue 23 Sep 2008, 11:22 |

jhana,
What resolved your crashing problem with Logic in 10.4.x with the MOTU 8 Pre? Just curious. peace. That has a good beat already. ;-) Sorry I have been out of it for a while. New record label launched, new company formed. Missing hanging with my peeps on the 440 forums. However, to add to the line of defense on both sides. Jhana, MacDaddy offers good advice. Perhaps the only caveat that was not clear is 'if you are currently working on a project and need to get it finished, do not add new variables to your situation until that project is ready to mix/master or put in the can'. Doing so only opens yourself up to unnecessary risk. Everyone else who responded in defense of our users and our forum, I am sure that we have all had a time when a project we are working on gets hung on extraneous issues; new software, a recalcitrant piece of hardware, a stoned musician, whatever... When those things happen and they are out of our artistic control, our hackles go up, our ire is stirred and our patience is strained. We should all be able to relate to Jhana's situation and take that extra deep breath, look past the frustration and attempt to help out a fellow Mac User and artist. As it is apparent that is exactly what happened here. Rock on! It is good to see the passion is still on the forum and that creativity is still in bloom. All the best from ATX! peace. Mhmm a strong case of conflicting attitudes and necessary agrement to disagree…
I'm sure you'd all be friend round a beer or coffee, or better: jammin'. jhanna, the fact the answers you get don't suit you doesn't mean they are not good advice, even if it's stuff you _know_. Mac daddy may be sometimes blunt but usually never answers for nothing, and he's a qualified professional never letting down even newbies. it wasn't the answer you wanted/needed first that's all. We have to care about giving help for all, and without your background, it includes stuff "for beginners" in the answers too. Now the really important stuff we need to know as it's the real point of all, what did the job in the end? That's helpful for others too. And we all need a drink don't we? lepetitemartien,
Well said. And I totally agree. A jam session would totally cement the 'bound-ness' quality of the posters. Or a beer, coffee, perrier. peace and good music forum-mates. -------------------- |
