I'll be setting up a 5500+ in the near future. I want to use it for basic guitar / bass recording. I currently use Acid pro 4 on my pc for looping up drum samples to play with, and for multi track recording direct from the line in on the sound card..... and want to have something simular with the Mac. Any ideas? The Mac is factory stock.. 250Mhz / 64 megs ram / OS8 .. I know it's not a lot to work with, but I want to make it work.

An Acid equal would be cool, but I don't think anyone makes one that will run on this machine. The OS will be updated to what ever the machine can stand.. I think it will go to OS9 easily, but that's only a guess.

Please give some opinions here, or email me at bordy97@yahoo.com

Thanks !
Tom

( I'm reposting this here and in the Getting Started area because it sorta fits both areas.. )

( The looping is only for the drum samples, and I want to avoid midi drums on this box.. )

I merged both thread and deleted (please don't cross post! you naughty boy wink.gif the 3rd one.

I don't have personnal experience on this computer but it's getting old. Don't expect too much from it.

The USB card is a good idea, so you can keep the interface if you upgrade the mac.
With firewire it's be even better. (for drives)

A nice touch would be RAM anyway, the more the better.

OS9 should run (no personal experience I jumped from a 66 MHz 601 to a G3 400 and counting now for a G5 -Apple can you give me one, pretty pretty please wink.gif At worse 8.6 will run smoothly and lightly.

Sorry for the duplicate post, but you deleted the wrong one.. Now I have two software posts on the same subject, and my hardware post is gone... That makes us about equal now, right ?
Anyways... Thanks for the info and tips.. I'm stuck with the 5500 box, so I'm gonna do all I can to see it through. As for Apple giving away some new equipment, I won't be greedy, I'll take last years leftovers any day if it's free biggrin.gif

Thanks again, and I'll be sure to NOT double post in the future.
