I downloaded from this website the Additive Synth plug-in (which is really an instrument not a plug-in) and dragged it to the proper folder and everything, but when i opened garage band I could not find it in the instrument list or where the plug-ins are. I also downloaded the daHornet synth as well but had the same problem. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you've put the component(s) in the folder library>audio>plug-ings>components they will be available in garageband, but there's a bit of a trick.

to create a third party au in GB, first create a software instrument of some type, like piano. then click EDIT. the edit panel has a pull down menu called "generator" or something like that. in the generator list will first appear the GB instrument types, and then below that, the other AU instruments you've got in your component folder. choose the one you want. it may show up with a normal interface, or it may appear with a stripped down look, it depends on the instrument.

enjoy.
