Hi,

The signal sent from my oxygen8 isnt received from my macbook (intel core 2 duo ox 10.4.10). The weird thing is that the midi controler is recognized, i.e. it is showed active in the "audio midi setup" of the computer, even in the Live 6 "midi preferences", it does recognize the device; but when i press the keys on the oxygen it does nothing and the "midi in " of Live 6 does not lite up nor i can send any signals from the midi controler.
The problem was recreated when connecting to Absynth, but not when conected via usb cable to a hardware sequencer. As to drivers, i have installed the latest driver for my OS. . The old driver didnt work either, and when i had my other mac (powerbook) it worked just fine. So i'm thinking maybe this is a compatibility problem between oxygen and OSX 10.4.10

Arrr, any ideas??

thanks,

P

Sadly, I can't seem to be able to reach M-audio websites to check drivers. You should try later on, the servers are maybe under work or there's something fishy between my computers and them… It happens. I could only try their driver page from the goggle cache and there's 10.4.10 listed but I can't tell you if it's the same driver or not as previously.

Besides drivers, you can try to trash the actual drivers, preferences, including those related to audioMIDI for the System, and start other a new Audio MIDI Setup from scratch.

If the Oxygen is to be USB powered but can be powered from mains, try from the mains (wait to test the rest before buying an adapter if you have to).

Connect the Oxygen alone to the computer, no hub, printer etc. too. and power the macbook from mains.

That's all I can think of without being able to reach M-audio tonight… I'll try tomorrow again.

Hey thanks for the options!

Ill erase everything related to M-audio in my computer which is just a folder containing 3 files wish i dont have the least idea of what they do (newbie grin) but they are called "M-audio firmware loader", "M-audio firmware loader.rsrc" and "startup parameters.plist". They all reside in the only M-audio folder i found on my computer called "M-audio firmware loader". So ill erase those and also the "m-audio USB support.plugin" which resides in the MIDI drivers folder.

And ill also download the driver (again) from M-audio webpage... although i allready downloaded and ereased the driver 2 times!. But i feel lucky wink.gif jeje.

Anyway thank you very much for your fast help!

P.S. Y also whant to know if you know of other people with the same computer - MIDI trouble. (oxygen 8 M-audio keystation series and macbook intel core 2 duo, 10.4.10, 2.16GHz, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM)

Since the begining of the problem I tried help with the M-audio suport personal, but, sadly, didnt help at all.
They actually thought it was a problem with the software, although that was really improbable because it is recognized with Ableton Live 6 and Audio Midi Setup utility. It just doesnt send MIDI signal...
So it was really funy to see M-Audio's reply asking me if Iwas sure to have the Live 6 for mac; when in the e-mail i sent to them it clearly said that the oxygen was not recognized by Live! so it was prety obvious that the correct version of Live was running on my computer.. tongue.gif i think they didnt even read it well.. absurd!

Something very remote: try to zap the PRAM first and reset the SMC after. (if you reset the SMC, it'll reset the NVRAM/PRAM anyway)

Members, especially new users, please take this simple piece of advice, free.

It is better to wait an extra month or two and save than to buy "Entry Level". Especially, especially, without fail, promise (Do you hear me?) with Interfaces. Not only will you have Signal Problems, but one of the most important parts of your music chain will be weak. I know you want to start creating music right away, but, please sacrifice, cut down on drinking, drugs, gambling, ask you grandparents, girlfriend, boyfriend for money, but don't buy cheap Hardware Audio Interfaces. Please. Too many problems with them and they never seem to get solved. I have read a hundred or more problems with "Entry Level" Interfaces, not saying any names, hey, the good ones can mess-up too, but they can be fixed, and usually the postage cost more than the repair, but "Entry Level" problems are 'forever'. Plus, you want to be proud of your gear, not ashamed of it. A month or two wait to save money will save years of pain and audio problems. I'll shut up now.

Om.

lepetitmartien,

I really enjoy your Posts. Where do you find the time to answer and usually solve all the problems members have? It is good to know if and when I do have a problem(s), you can most likely fix it.

I PROMISE this story is going somewhere. I have had from "Day One" a problem with my Microphone, Amp, Mixer, Interface, something. No one else could hear it but me. I don't even know what life outside of headphones is anymore. The Amp, a SPL on steroids Factory installed Lundahl Transformers, an extra six hundred Euros, sort of (AMG or M Series in auto terms... I "Pimped My Amp". Still heard a distortion, only "louder" with the new Turbo Stuff. Hated it.

I'm beginning to panic. My Microphone? None other than a Neumann U87. RME Sound Card, Multiface and Analog/Digital Interface. The Analog/Digital Interface had a Power Supply problem and had to be shipped to RME for Service. Took ten days. Cost 50 Euros, including shipping?! Don't ask.

He plugs everything up and the Analog/Digital Interface begins to stutter/blink... Tears are in my eyes. He said turn off your Channel One.

"Sync Problem". When using that Hardware I have to change my Clock Mode to AutoSync from Master. Long story short, the sound is the way I had always imagined. Fantastic. I'm in heaven.

In, closing, if you hear distortion in your vocals and you know your signal is good, not in 'The Red', it could be a "Sync" problem. Something should "Blink" to show a problem, I missed it. Hundreds of hours hating each note of my own voice... The worst thing ever, especially to someone who thinks they can sing and was even vain enough to by the best tools for Recording "Professional" Quality Vocals.

I never ventured into my DSP Settings, for fear I would "Click" the wrong thing. Today was a big step after several years of distortion to hear perfect sound. I thought I had bought a damaged Microphone, Amp, Sound Card, Interface, Cable, Etc. It was just a "Click" away.

The Service Technician didn't charge me for the visit and installation. The best thing that's happened to me in a long time.

Making great progress working with one of the 440 Members.

Macbook Intel and Oxygen 8 are not compatible, or at least that is what the M-Audio tech support said. They say that if you whant tu use oxygen8 with a macbook intel (i dont know about other intel macs) you have to get a usb powered hub. They also told me that that is probable that the hub will solve the communication problem, although is not 100% true.

I'm using a Macbook Pro with both an Oxygen and an OxygenV2.
I just installed the latest drivers for the Oxygen, It works perfectly...
For the OxygenV2 you don't need any additional drivers.
Sorry I can't be of much help, just wanted to let you all know that the combination MBP/Oxygen should work normally..

Her's a somewhat related question (hope this post is OK). Will my M-Audio Axiom 61 controller work with Leopard? M-Audio kind of waffles on this one. Anyone try it yet?
