hi all , my first post here biggrin.gif

i'm going to buy my first mac and it will be used more on performance.
my main software will be Ableton Live 5.

i'm considering 12" Powerbook G4 with 1.25Gb ram, do u guys think it would be enough for the job? I know Macbook Pro is definitely faster and newer but my budget is a bit tight so i think it's not my choice unless powerbook is not enough.

2nd question, is the 5400rpm harddisk stable enough for live performace?

Thanks !!

That Mac should do yoy fine, I have a 15" Powerbook and I found it helped to get a Firelite pocket hardrive to hold all of my loops in, and it is a bootable drive too so sometimes I just plug it into another person's Mac and I'm good to go.

Hi smile.gif

To have audio files on an external HD is the thing to do wink.gif

Save for RAM later, to max it out, your OS X will thank you too.

Get the MacBook Pro. WAY faster. Yep, you might have to eat nothing but rice for a month or two, but go MBP over PB. It's the future.

I have the Powerbook G4 and it works great. I use Garageband though but have had no problems with anything.
