I have a problem with my Yamaha CBX-D3 (Harddisk recorder). Ny Mac tells me that the unit is not connected.

The problem is the communcation thru the midi connection. The Mac tells me that the device is not connected. The midiinterface works. The cables work.

Do i need a special driver for this hardware? And where can i find a driver??

PLEASE HELP!!!

The system is a Mac 6100/66. The connection are thru midi and scsi.

The connection that fails is the midi connection. I have a program from yamaha for the hardware.

When i test the scsi connection it works. The unit should get some information from my computer thru the midi connection but I can´t get it to work.

When i connect other yamaha products thru the midi connection it works. But not teh CBX-D3.

The unit make it posssible the record sound thru scsi. The unit sends the sound signal thru scsi to the harddisk. The midi connection is for controlling the unit. If that connection doesn´t work it is impossible to use the unit.

The Mac tells me that the device is not connected.

There are no drivers with the yamaha program. That´s why I am so confused. Do I need a driver or not??

Seem it's in OMS there's a problem. Have you double checked the config in OMS. If it's ok, then try a new config from scratch.

Are you sure the midi port of the cbx is working ?

Upon the software, seem that the unit doesn't need additional software, I made a little wandering in the yamaha sites (go japan, there the site actually FIND it blink.gif ) not a lot of info (at least not in japanese) but seem to be no soft needed, none as far as I've seen in downloads… I checked also in the US and UE, but seem not to need anything…

I have done some research to. I need CBX-D3/5 driver for Mac Soundmanager to get it to work.

The CBX needs to communicate with the Mac. When the Mac starts the CBX should get controlinformation from the Mac. I guess that´s what the driver does.

I you know any place on the internet where I can find drivers for the Mac please inform me. This problem drives me crazy.

Maybe I should be happy with my DAT recorders instead.

tadaaaa

Not sure but with the /5 added it changed a bit the picture… (software downloads from Japanese companies are always a nightmare… WHY?)

This I had a link to an faq with 1/ info that some soft for the CBX is used also for the A3000 ans EX5/7 2/and a link for downloads (with loads of stuff I haven't seen previously)

http://www.yamahasynth.com/down/main.htm

All the guys making sites for CUSTOMERS should try to find something on it ONCE!

there is something specific for you but I'm really not sure it's THE thing…

If it's not there, try a mail to yamaha (polite but ferm), they should know what it is to be a cbx user without software.
