I just opened up my new G5 from the box. Ahhh such a good feeling. Plugged it all in and switched it on. What a beautiful piece of machinerey. Its a bit bigger and heavier than my G4. I also picked up a 250 gig external hard drive, which I will use to transfer and store my old audio files. So...as a music producer do any of you have advice as to how to optimize the performance of my new G5? Cheers!

First: RAM, go higher than 1 GB, 2 is a good bet. Buy quality RAM, if possible Apple certified by the shop with a return policy. OS X and G5 are picky wink.gif Usually, RAM from Danelec, Corsair, Samsung (the real deal, not the chip only), you get the point, should be ok.
Second: keep all audio files on the second SATA drive.

Going further into what to do would need some input… as for the eventual partitionning etc. It depends a lot of your use/day by day work. cool.gif
