HI. Is anyone successfully recording and sequencing with an iMac? I have a DVSE with 256 megs of RAM, a Midiport 32, Alesis SR-16 drum machine and a little keyboard controller. I have never been able to get the midi sequencing working. All I want to do is save drum tracks from the SR-16 into Cakewalk to edit them. Of course mixing multiple tracks would be awesome, but one thing at a time. Also when I record live audio, the tracks will only play back once and then they are greyed out and don't play back.
Any help or links would be appreciated. The literature on all this gear and software makes it sound so easy. I have been at this occasionally for like two years. It's the one thing I wish my mac could do. It is supposed to work. Aaargh! -------------------- Shouldn't this just work?

Hazimel,
Yep sounds like you don't have your OMS set up or confiqured correctly. It only took me 1.5 years to get mine to sync with the Alesis nanosynth through a midi man 2x2! -------------------- kaboombahchuck

sounds like your problem is cakewalk.
i have no problems using my kid's imac for music. update cakewalk version. try a different sequencer with better mac support. good luck (luck = labour under correct knowledge). later... -------------------- one for all and all for one...

I use Cakewalk Metro 5 and have no problems with sequencing or audio recording on an 350 indigo iMac.

could this be the dreaded 'extensions conflict' ?
keep the system 'lean & mean'. extensions overload (free demo), prefs overload (ditto) should sort that out which system version are you using ? good luck... -------------------- one for all and all for one...
