are there any benefits/disadvantages of either firewire or PCI card based music interfaces?

in particular im trying to decide whether the motu 828 or 2408 would be the answer for my production studio.

does expanding with an additional unit, respectively have any added benefits/disadvantages?

any help would be great, thanks.

the better is to take the other way around…

What do you absolutly need?

What could you also need?

then we'll can work out an answer, maybe wink.gif

I want to build a production studio with 8 ins and out for now.

I also want to be able to expand the ins and out (analog) in order to record more live tracks if necessary.

In tandem with the interface, I will be running DP3 on a dual processor mac (in about two months.)

8 tracks live is cool for the moment, but i'd like to be able to record at least 24 tracks live later in the game.

lemme know what you think.

With the actual material, no.

it's just a question of balance feature/use, with the possibility to use a firewire one on location too with a powerbook.

It may change with firewire 2 and Mlan but it's not even announced the killer thing that mays change the world wink.gif
