I have an older MOTU mtp2 midi interface, I got it seconhand, so it didn't come with cables or drivers. I downloaded freemidi from the Motu website ( I wanted to test out the mtp on my old performa 6400 before I get my new mac for the studio) I picked up a serial cable from a someone, hooked it all up... but when I scan the ports for an interface in freemidi, it dosen't recognize the timepiece angry.gif Is there a possibility that I need a different cable (adb I think?) I'm going to be getting an upgraded g3 here soon... and I was planning on Logic or Dp for sequencing, but I need a working interface. I might have the option (depending on funds) to go with a usb interface.. but I would like to network it to the MTP2 so I can use all my midi hardware. any suggestions? ideas?

thanks in advance

It must be a serial cable, not an ADB one.

Are you sure the cable is ok, no pin broken ? it's current with mini DIN plugs.

If the cable is ok, then you have some other trouble. I don't remember… is there a driver for the timepiece also?

Good news man! I checked all the cable connections... and was fooling around with the transmit settings, and when I flipped it to 1mhz and lo and behold... it all works flawlessly on my old 6400! (now I really feel like a Mac newcomer) thanks for the suggestions... I really dig this place... smile.gif
