can anyone please please give me some reliable info regarding the ROLAND SH3, i have had many very conflicting reports as to how rare or not so rare these synths are, i am led to believe that not many SH3 went into production due to an infringement with moog?, thereafter they released the SH3A in plentiful supply, the synth has the serial number and SH3 stamped on it, some sites on the internet say that only 40 SH3'S were made and that they are very rare and fetch a good price, i want to sell this lovely synth so i need a correct price guide, despite emails to Roland themselves and many other "vintage synth" sites no one has replied............does anybody know the truth about these boards!!......................PLEASE HELP!

They are rare and desirable. Now on the exact figure of SH-3 made, I haven't been able to find it but it sure is no zillions as there was a redesign quickly after the launch of it (see below). Personally either I'd ask for the price/sell it on the Analogue Heaven mailing list, or would go ebay with a $300+ reserve from what I've seen ($300 is bottom level price, I could find the current reasonable one); My preference would be for AH where most people are decent. Also you can enter it at the VEMIA auction hosted by Peter Forest. It's a great place for rarities and Peter can be of help (packing, sale strategy, payment safety as he does the middleman for trusty transactions). In his books A-z to analogue synth, he dismiss the 40 number and extravagant prices are being scams to inflate the price. You can trust Peter on this. The VEMIA is in preparation now and bids have started. Now I accept gifts you know, it's my birthday in a few weeks Oh… and Roland doesn't give a f…k to their old synths you know. AND DON'T SHOUT, we are all here for some help, please
