Very cool. But the headline? As if all audio geeks were male... or straight for that matter...

If you use "significant other", it's gender safe wink.gif

"Most of us" = who? Audio geeks? I suppose. But my mind immediately turns to art history -- every genre -- and makes me wonder if "most of us" really are male or if we just (still, as we have done historically) under-report women's involvement. Many of us -- depending on age range -- were raised to act as support staff, and/or to downplay our own activities accordingly. I use my initials, "CK," instead of my full name, and 9/10 times people assume I'm male til they meet me. Especially in the academia-experimental scene.

Even in my rock days... I remember playing Boston one time, and beforehand I was at back-of-house tuning my brother's and my guitars, and the house soundman walked by and said, "Cool! A chick roadie!" I said, "Uh huh" and finished, and then got onstage and led our band's soundcheck (you know, with all the songs I'd written, and sang, and played guitar on). At the end of the night mr. soundguy asked if he could be our permanent soundguy. Uh huh. wink.gif

ANYWAY.... Mostly it surprises me that more people still don't stop to think about their assumptions and word choices. And really, does it get any geekier than Laurie Spiegel? Or Laurie Anderson? Or Pauline Oliveros? biggrin.gif They have got some serious geek on! They were kicking major electronic butt before most of your readers were born.

But, most importantly wink.gif , I'm the audio geek in the house and I want one (or two) of those rad bracelets for myself! cool.gif

Hi, you all.

Has any one found a way to put hands on one of those bracelets?
I just can't find the link to an online store, if any.
Thanks for your help.
Oh, by the way, I'm a male and still like these things.
Does it make me a "significant other"? cool.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif
Does it matter, anyway? smile.gif
See you and all the best for next year..

Agree with ckb.......By the way, I´ll love to find a female audio geek who could play bass in my band and write her name in capital letters... wink.gif

That's a great question -- I couldn't find a reference to how to actually get one of the bracelets either. They are really cool, and in fact my own little business logo incorporates the same type of shape so it would be perrrrrrfect...
