Hello there! I ´m glad I found a webpage dedicated to Music on Macintosh. Since Nov last year my prod partner and myself own a G4 ( 1999) , we use it with a cracked Logic until we will be able to invest more in software. Recently I bought NI´s Battery, which I believe has a very fine choice of drum sounds ( because real) . My Mac is a quite slow one, I think it´s around 450 Mhz (..) , and I had problems with getting started Battery . I downloaded an upgrade from the NI page and the Stand Alone program worked fine, but it´s impossible to launch LOGIC and use Battery as a VST PLUG and MIDI application - the most frequent error is error 1 or erroe 2 ( RAM Memory?) .
So I have a few ( probably beginner) questions:

1. As Logic is a cracked 4.8 version, is it probable that it won´t accept Battery?
2. If I run about 8 tracks and put about 3 WAVE compressors and 3 WAVE Reverbs in total, the system is overloaded: is this because of the cracked version or is it the computer speed?
3. What can I do to optimize my Mac? Is it worth to buy Mhz extensions, or would a quicker hard disk do the same job? (The idea is to get a quick external firewire disk)

Can anyone help? I would be glad if yes! Thanks , milosz

first, its advisable that you should keep info about your kracked software private as there are software developers on this forum and they don't appreciate the k'd lingo or mentality and the site doesn't promote such activities either.

second, you didn't mention how much RAM you have. Any VST plug that uses samples probably uses RAM to to store samples for that instrument and if you don't have nough RAM... you are gonna run into these problems. You can try to increase the amount memory for the Logic app and see if that helps but ideally you shold have at least 320mb - 1gig of RAM for any music software that uses sampling. Also, don't expect any app that is K'd to work perfectly.

third... too many plugs (especially reverbs) will tax your system'c CPU... you are better off using one reverb on aux track and using the busses to send audio from the tracks to the reverb. Reverbs are very CPU intensive cool.gif
