Hi Folks,

I am having problems installing OMS on my new G4 computer with a USB MIDI Express XT from MOTU.

The MOTU installer places Free MIDI on the system and the USB driver for the Xpress XT. I then choose to run OMS (Which I believe I need for Cubase VST5 to work).

So then, I run the OMS 3.8 setup program, it find the USB Xpress XT and when I click on "OK" to do a MIDI device scan, the computer freezes. Every time. I am at my wit's end.

I have tried every setting I know how, including unplugging all my MIDI devices from the back of Xpress XT.

THE MAC IS A WIND TUNNEL G4 1.25GHZ WITH 1GB MEMORY.

Please, if you have any insight into this problem, I would be very grateful. Otherwise, I shall have to switch back to a Serial port version, which is a shame.

Many thanks, in anticipation.

Cheers for now,
TwoSheds

First uninstall OMS and the MOTU drivers including free MIDI
Trash the eventual config file of OMS, clean the preferences there can be too
Now re-install FIRST OMS, restart, then the MOTU drivers.

If it doesn't work, it can be a trouble in Free MIDI, the alliance of OMS and Free MIDI even if MOTU as done a lot is not carven into stone. sad.gif (due to the history of OMS, or its lack of for more than 5 years…)

If you had made a search on OMS you'll have found similar OMS related explosions… (not with MOTU I confess)

If the problem is solved, please tell us how, it'll help others smile.gif
