I'm thinking about getting a home studio and an extremely low budget, and I was thinking about getting the following:
1) PreSonus Firepod-$600
2) Shure SM57s (2 or more for recording amps and drums)-$89 each
3) Studio Bonus Bundle B from musiciansfriend.com- consists of MXL 990 microphone, AKG k-66 headphones, Edirol M10-DBK monitors-$200
I am also getting an iMac G5, but that will be later due to my limited budget. I am looking to record many tracks simultaneously with fairly good quality. For a beginner, does this sound like a good set-up?

The weakest link in the setup are the monitors, but budget wise, you're too tight. Star having fun and upgrade later (better monitors, adding different mics). Note that the monitors will go away, but the mics here are to stay smile.gif
