m-audio now offers jaguar drivers for panther (on their website). did someone try ?

Yup. I'm running Panther 10.3.1 - tried to install the latest drivers for my Audiophile 2496 - it downloaded fine - but wouldn't install. However, (I can't believe I'm going to say this) I don't seem to be having any problems anyway with my card - it works fine for me.

my MobilePre usb interface and Oxygen 8 work fine under Panther. I use them live, with my band; Dark Disco Club.

Yup,
I also use the the Midisport 2 x 2 and that works fine under Panther - so, you may ask - why don't you use the Midi on the Delta Audiophile 2496? and you'd be right - um.. it's a long story involving a late night and a tired brain and too long without sleep and I didn't have a button pressed when it should've been pressed and... sigh... anyway, it all works and M-audio is fine by me. The Panther driver that can be found at m-audio website is the old 3.1 version of the driver, and doesn't work better... m-audo support told me to remove old driver installation, to repair disk permissions and the re-install the driver: doesn't work better, and the Audio and Midi Setup crash each time I run it. It's been more than 1 month since Panther has been released, and it seems M-Audio is unable to update their driver. very bad experience with transit under panther.
there is a reason their reputation is falling. their drivers are unreliable and highly incompatible. absolutely refuse to provide any documentation nor do they accept returns. if you value the stability of your computer, stay clear. stay well clear. |

Glad I read this...I was going to buy a there new controller, but will wait until this is sorted out.

don't touch their stuff unless you can have two weeks or a month to test and return when you find your computer crashing or that it is impossible to run half of your programs with their device attached.
be cautious. very cautious. they are unbelievably unrepentant about their bad drivers. |
