That's interesting indeed. I have week 11 Macbook Pro with whine. After reading this news I'm not sure if I should call Apple repair to request MLB change. I have no problems other than whine. The whine is becoming louder with every OSX update. I don't know the normal temperature but my avarege is 60-70C with moderate CPU load. I also don't have Apple Care. Any advice?

You have applecare included the first year. It's the extension to 3 years which you have to subscribe. And you can sub to Applecare until the last day of the first year. For a Laptop I think it's a good idea (given my adventures with my G5, for desktops it may be too…)
Now on the whine problem, I still don't know if the whine problem is acknowledged as a motive for replacement… I hope so! -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

I just got one of the 17" MacBook Pros and this baby hasn't made a peep! It's so quiet. I think they may have got these new ones going out.

Drummer... You Da Man! Is all of your Software working? How many Tracks can be Played before it gets 'Tempermental? Is the Pro "Really" a leap ahead or just another pretty face? Congratulations on the purchase.
I ended up using my 17" Powerbook for E-mails, it could not stand the heat of battle... Had to get a G5 for that... Good Luck... Please let us know both the 'Good & Bad'... Bravo 'Rich Kid' or are you 'Not So Rich At The Moment'? Costs? Purchsed where? Be cool, be clever, don't Bb. |

I received my MBPro on May 16. It's absolutely quiet. The only noises it makes are:

Note, the noise issues don't affect all macbooks pro. Fortunately. But it's certainly worrisome for the apple customers into audio who are suffering of it.
