I wrote in several other threads my belief that something in the Apple operating system has been acting as some sort of major hold up on the pro audio market for OS X, both hardware and software. (BusError's attestations and protestations notwithstanding--he said he ported Sibilius to OS X, and the Core Audio and MIDI was all good.) It's been a long, painful drought for musicians trying to move over into X, though, despite vertical-market specialties like Sibilius--however spectacular it is. (Sibilius, by the way, doesn't have to deal with audio tracking and editing, or hybrid audio/MIDI tracking and editing. Neither does Reason.)
And here we have a major audio-related software release slated for TWO DAYS after of the release of Jaguar, and I predict it's the first trickle of a flood, all to be triggered by the release of 10.2. I know, I know, it's all just a happy coincidence, right? <Snort!> |
