This is good to know that the Tascam 428 & 224 will NOT work with ProTools LE. Does that mean that they won't work as controllers? Or that they simply won't work as audio interfaces? I've been told by many a salesperson that they work perfectly with ProTools LE.
On that issue, does anyone have a suggestion for a cheap ProTools controller? I basically need something to set up by an electronic drum kit that will allow me to record and adjust some ProTools faders without having to get up and go to my computer. I'd love to have some extra audio inputs, but it's definitely not necessary since I have the Digi001.
thanks.

thanks for the clarification... I guess it still seems a waste of money to pay for a product with you can only partially use. The 428 SEEMED like a good option to get hardware control, a MIDI interface, AND some extra audio inputs.
As always, this forum proves itself again as the place to get the truth. Thanks again.

greetings everyone, i need advice. i've been using the us-428 with protools free for about a year now and i'm feeling a need to look for other software options...cheap ones preferably...OS9...something that offers a bit more than 8 tracks. 16 should be just nice. i'm wondering if the following works with the 428: a) micrologic av 4.0 b) cakewalk metro 5 c) cubasis 2.0 d) logic versions prior to 4.7 is there anything else i should consider?
