This is annoying, because my US122 also only works in a powered port, which means my unpowered usb hub is redundant and I can't use my mouse. Grr! Anyone found a way around this?

You can get a powered USB hub for $20 or less. More money is better quality (longer life) in many cases, but is not needed to address the need.
