Hello
Does anyone know if there's any way to use the MOTU 896HD with ProTools LE 6.4 or ProTools TDM 6.4 on a G5? I have a ProTools 24 TDM (PCI farm card) set up with a digidesign 888 on my old 9600, but I'm looking for a way to run ProTools on my G5 without spending another $8k upgrading to ProToolsHD. Thanks for any advice/help... sorry for my ignorance |

I REEEEEALY WANT an 896 BUT - 5 questions nag me.
I really need mobile 8track- on a TiBook 1. Will it write all 16 tracks to a laptop before the FW bus or Hard disk controller that is writing the data gets saturated? (I would guess this could be a big deal on my 700MHZ tiBook with a slow HD) My plan would be to run to 2 disks, built in HD and external FW to split the load.(via 3port Cardbus FW card) Any comments ? 2. Is there any DSP capability on board for rendering effects plugins? Can it render effects on the input stage before writing to disk (limiter/comp/EQ/reverb that kindathing) if so what format or is it just basic built in mixing the DSPs are for 3. Anybody tried a synch test with a midiman USB midi cotroller while running 8 audio tracks in? any mismatch??? Will I need aditional synch box? 4. Is there ANY possibility it will work with OS9 / Cubase 4.1 VST Or will I have to shell out for SX (c'mon now don't laugh, I'm being serious) 5. How much better do pre-amps realy get than the MOTU ones. Thanx y'all for such an enlightening discussion, keep it up ------------------------------------- FLAAAAAMSTER BOY - U owe me a new pair of drumsticks!!!!! See u soon (now go study!!!) |
