Hey all, I'm purchasing a new powerbook G4 (512mb RAM, 1ghz cpu) for mainly music and was looking into audio interfaces. I do both MIDI and audio recording work and wanted something with MIDI in/out as well as analog and digital inputs/outputs. I prefer having the XLR jacks for recording with mics. I plan to use either Cubase or Logic, as well as Reason for now. I like the features of the M-Audio Firewire 410 and Omni Studio USB, but am a bit worried about the problems I've been hearing regarding the former. Would anyone recommend either of them? And if not, any alternate suggestions? Thanks! |

we took the M-audio firewire for a spin, trying to record a cool jam. FYI - you cannot record 4 ins at the same time. yeah, we had a few issues. if you are looking for that or more - then this card is not for you. -------------------- have a good one snow setup: dual 2.7 G5 OSX 10.4.2 Logic express |

i like the looks of the QUATA-Fire from EgoSys but the inputs are unballanced apart from the two XLRs. Nice features otherwise though. we really do need some more 1/3rack fw options. -------------------- Kit: Dual Ghz G4, Vaio 2.6ghz GRV670 notebook. Software: Reaktor, Reason, Ableton Live. Leanings: Laptop performance, jazz guitar, singing. |
