If its your boot HD, you'll need to reboot with the install disk, then at the Install screen, the File (or Edit?) menu should contain the option to open Disk Utility. Do that. Navigate to the HD you want to erase, and erase. Writing 1's and 0's is only worth it for absolute security (ie. data irretrievability), but will TAKE A LONG TIME TO FORMAT. So, if you just wanna reformat the HD for a clean install, just do a normal format.

The "write 0" options should only be used when there are problems on the drive which can't seem to go with a normal format, as a safety belt. Else, it's a security mesure for preventing data recovery.
Now, remember, format the drive will make you lose ALL the data on the drive, so if there's anything you should keep, back it up! -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home

Thanks
BTW, stick to HFS+ format and for the journalled, not journalled option, see what your audio app aditor says, usually, enable journalling on a hard drive will imper somehow its performances so it's not good for usual practice. Now I know Digidisegn after saying "no journaling on your audio HD" now is gone for "enable journaling" since PT 7… Journaling is a kind of safety belt when a crash happens, it's helps recover a drive after a crash fast and effectively, though you may lose data but at list the drive is in shape fast and sound, but it' simplies more r/w operations on it while you work. -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home
