I'm using a MOTU 828 (original) with a G5 a pair of Samson Resolv 50a monitors. Often I hear a squelching noise in my monitors and it's pretty annoying. It's a low crackle with a little squelch every second or so. What is causing this and can I fix it? I've heard that the 828 power supplies can be noisy. I'm using decent cables. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes you may be one of the unfortunate to get the PSU-related noises, they seem to propagate through both usb-firewire & maybe even the spdif ports.

Se discussions on MacFixit/MacITouchfor this issue.

Try setting sleep & energy-savings to high speed setting -- NOT to maximum energy-savings.
