I just ordered my new G5, so sweet....and I want to buy the Event Electronics EZbus, if anyone has any serious beef with this piece of equipment please let me know. I want to record using the ADAT lightpipe I/O, and all of this is really not that important so what I really want to know is, what's the most affordable way to get lightpipe into my new G5? I mean specifically what is a good soundcard with lightpipe I/O or firewire interface or magic spell, etc... Any pertinent/related info will help. I guess I can live without the control surface features of the EZbus if anyone has any good mixer/lightpipe interface setups in mind. Thanks everyone!

Hi,

My first post here.

I have an ezbus and have no real complaints about it. it's very flexible and the multiple(summed) inputs are very useful.

I was running everything USB and got very bummed out by that so I just purchased an 828mkII. THe great thing about the piece used in conjunction w/ the ezbus is that I now have 8 analog ins & 2 mic pres w/ the 828 and the 8 adat lightpipe ins w/ the ezbus, not to mention the pres that come with the ezbus, etc.

Both pieces put together offer me a lot of flexability in my studio, plus the ezbus has built in crompressors and eqs. not the greatest in the world, but usable and relatively transparent.

Hope this helps with the decision on what to do w/ the new G5.

Jason
