You can use COWON or the winamp softwares for doing that kind of stuff, Only if you just want to record the music. You can also use the DJ Mixer for combining the music. smile.gif

I am starting to hear of some younger hip hop artists actually using Garage Band....if you are talking about entry level kind of stuff, that is a great place to start. Otherwise, Reason, or Ableton Live would work just fine for what you want to do (loop based production, sampling, and the odd synth line). Ableton now makes an LE version of its software for only 150 bucks....not bad. If you want to be "all street" about it though, you will need to invest in an Akai MPC workstation. None of your hip hop homies will give you any "respec" with out it, Dog.
