 Can't Write To My External Hard Drive |

Hi, I have a g4 powerbook & bought an oxford hard drive enclosure & I can't seem to write to it- It shows up in the disc utility & info shows it to be writable (I have formatted it) - & it also shows up on my hardware profile. But I can't seem to bring it to the front to copy information to it. What am I doing wrong?

I see 3 possibilities:
- bad format (either something went wrong, or you're not in HFS+ for example) - bad cable… it happens - You are not the "owner" of the drive.
