Hi....new here... but I like the site.

One quetsion though I could not easily find.

I want to buy a Shure SM57...but can i hook it up directly into my Imac?
Its an Imac G5 20".....
Can i do it through the line-in?
Or do I need something else...or should I go for a completely other mike?

It's mainly for recording voice/acoustic guitar for demo's.

You will need something else, you should go for a little mixer. You need to amplify the signal from the mic a little to get it up to a level that the line in can handle, a mixer will do this for you as long as it has a mic amp on it ( nearly all do ). A dedicated mic amp will do, if you want to get something that may give you a 'sound' like a good valve 'mic pre', or maybe a 'voice channel' which will have mic amp, eq, compression / limiting, filtering to sweeten the sound up and 'condition' it.
