My issue concerns MIDI playback on Logic Express 7.01. I can actually record MIDI into Logic fine. You can see that the notes are actually recorded. The problem comes in playback. I simply cannot hear the MIDI play when I play the song back. I just know it's something simple that I can't figure out. I am using an M-Audio Ozonic interface with Logic Express. MIDI playback works just fine in GarageBand. Hmmm...

If you can provide me with any help, I will post an article on the web for all future users who run into this issue. Thank you for any help possible!

Thanks!

Many new Logic users have asked the same question.
The problem is, that Logic by default creates e set of General MIDI (GM) tracks - Grand Piano, Bass etc.
These tracks however are not associated with any sound generating device.

You cannot use these GM tracks unless the output is sent to a GM synthesizer.

Use "Audio Instrument" tracks instead. These are soft-synth MIDI tracks, and in order to get sound from them you will need to insert a soft-synth plug-in (consult the manual on how to do this).

I hope my explanation is clear.
If not, don't hesitate to ask.
Or search the archive... I'm pretty sure this question has been asked and answered several times before. As I said, it is a very common problem for beginners.
