just recently bought an eMac with Logic express software and have a Midi Keyboard. Iwas told to link the two I must buy a USB MIDI interface but with this I dont get the sounds from my keyboard saved into Logic instead just information as MIDI, How do I correct this problem would i need an audio interface? if so what is the difference between the two in terms of recording

MIDI only cares of musical data, that is note, start of it, end of it, a clock, controllers (like volume, panning, resonance…). The 2 cables between the mac and the keyboard allow Logic to record MIDI, then to play it back on the keyboard (one cable per direction).
To take care of the audio out coming from the keyboard, you need an audio interface or a mixed MIDI/audio interface (hence you don't need the other) and audio cables coming from the audio outs of the keyboard into the Ins of the interface. Set up appropriately in the system preferences/audio and in apps/utilities/audio MIDI setup and up you go (eventually in logic too). -------------------- Our Classifeds • Nos petites annonces • Terms Of Service / Conditions d'Utilisation • Forum Rules / Règles des Forums • MacMusic.Org & SETI@Home
